I was hunting units down for Myth and Legends Day. I didn’t want big, full units- just something brief, simple, to the point. These were perfect for what I needed. I even incorporated the Main Ideas & Details Graphic Organizer that came with this. She’s not a big fan of marking the text just yet- we’ve only just begun using that method. So, I made her up a booklet of just the Main Ideas & Details that we’ll continue to use for stories like these- which we have A LOT of from you. Thank you for those!!!

Exactly what I needed! Helpful, practical, and a great addition to my classroom toolkit.

Great engaging stories that the students can do independently!

My students are finding these legends very interesting to read. I like the short main idea and summarizing activities below, they are not too overwhelming.

Great to use with students for legends and other Halloween reading activities! Thanks!
Keeping Teaching Fabulous –
Loved the idea of this resource but wished it had a little more variety. All legends have basically the same worksheet. I wish there was a variety of questions/responses. I feel like it would become very redundant to use multiple legends in a day due to the questioning being the same for each. The actual legends, however, were interesting topics and what drew me to choose this resource.

My students loved these. I loved that there were various stories.

I enjoyed how simple and easy-to-read these articles were. I added it to a lesson where my 7th graders had to justify whether or not they believed the legend was true. The articles can be adapted to lots of different lessons, and they make a great review of main ideas and summaries as well.
