Focus on the Learning –
I opted to use the open research format version and had my 6th grade students record their information to he hung in the hallway. The class was focused and working pretty well for the last week before Winter Break thanks to this resource. Meanwhile, I was able to teach them how to research, more effective strategies to find answers, and assess where we need work.

The “Holiday Around the World” lesson was a great educational experience for my 6th grade students. It intertwined cultural diversity with holiday celebrations. The activities were engaging and allowed students to explore, research and learn about traditions from different countries promoting global awareness in a fun, educational way. It was a nice blend of learning and festive spirit that I hope my students will remember fondly. I had my students present their brochures to their classmates, so all students heard about all the holidays. Then they each picked a postcard to do of a different holiday than they researched. I set up a gallery walk with the brochures. It was a great time and my students enjoyed it.
