PREFIX AND SUFFIX OF THE WEEK: This activity is what we used weekly to introduce a new prefix and suffix. You can enlarge the poster or print 2 to a page for students to keep in notebooks.
- Students will write the meaning of the prefix and suffix (reference sheet if needed)
- Students will write 3 words using the prefix and suffix. I would have students use dictionaries to find meanings if they do not know the meanings. Then, students will write 3 sentences using the prefix and suffix.
- Students will find other prefix and suffixes in their books to list on chart
- Lastly students will illustrate one of the related words.
EXTRA- Prefix- O and Suffix-O game (similar to Bingo game): This activity something extra you can have students do when finished studying the affixes. are extra to demonstrate learning of affixes. Games are provided in color and BW and with answer cards and call out cards.
