Each week, students analyze a picture, brainstorm ideas, write an engaging introduction, draft the body of their writing, and revise and edit using CUPS and ARMS. EACH WEEK FOLLOWS A CONSISTENT 5-DAY WRITING STRUCTURE:
- Day 1 – Prediction & Inferencing: Students analyze the picture, predict what is happening, and infer feelings or events.
- Day 2 – Brainstorming: Students observe details in the picture, record thoughts and ideas, and choose a focus for their writing.
- Day 3 – Introduction (Hook Writing): Students write an engaging introduction using 3–4 strong sentences that grab the reader’s attention.
- Day 4 – Body of the Story: Students draft the body of their writing, including clear details, strong descriptions, and events in logical order.
- Day 5 – Closing, Revising & Editing: Students write an effective conclusion and revise using CUPS and edit using ARMS.
