My students enjoyed the holiday-themed passages. I appreciated the questions: each passage had a main idea and a summary as well as a couple of questions about the topic. At the beginning, I had to scaffold some (even though we have covered main idea and summary), but after a few, they had taken the idea and were able to do it more independently. It helped having a consistent format for some practice.
